Saturday, February 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Free!

I love the Madison lakes and all of the entertainment and beauty they offer to my family, friends and community. That’s why I want to do my part to protect them, and that’s why I once again plan to attend the Frozen Assets Festival this year at The Edgewater on Lake Mendota. Organized by the Clean Lakes Alliance, the event highlights the year-round value of our lakes, while raising money to protect our waters through lake improvement projects, educational programming and water quality monitoring.
The day starts with the Frozen Assets 5k Run/Walk, in which participants run, walk or snowshoe across the frozen lake! There are several family-friendly activities, including ice skating, sleigh rides, pond hockey, snow shoeing, ice science and more—as well as complimentary s’mores and hot cocoa!
I’ve cheered on the brave racers, admired the colorful kites and walked for miles on the frozen water. I’ll admit I was initially scared to walk on a frozen lake, but it provides a new perspective with beautiful views of downtown Madison and UW-Madison—and the farther out you go, the quieter it gets. It’s pretty amazing! Have I convinced you to give it a try? I hope you’ll bundle up and join me for some snowy winter fun on the lake on Saturday, February 8 in support of the Clean Lakes Alliance!

I am looking forward to another day together on Mendota. This year we can walk across the entire lake!

I’m NOT walking 6 miles across the lake. We can go 1-2 hours.

Sounds like a really worthy cause. Hope you have many people joining
you. Looks like Rebecca was having a fun time. You & Greg looked bundled
up enough for the weather.

You’ve got to tread carefully on the ice but it’s a good time! Lots of fresh air. So beautiful!
